KARATE students were treated to a surprise gift as part of an inclusive club’s five-year celebration.
Young Gloves Karate marked five years of sessions at Leapgate Activity Centre in Stourport with a special event on Friday, September 4.
Each participant received a personalised karate T-shirt to mark the occasion.
Justin Thomas BEM, founder of Young Gloves Karate and a 6th Dan black belt, said: "Five years is a fantastic milestone and we wanted to do something special to celebrate it.
"These sessions have always been about much more than karate.
"They are about inclusion, friendship, confidence, achievement and giving everyone the opportunity to take part."
Young Gloves Karate has delivered monthly classes at Leapgate for five years, offering a supportive environment for people of all abilities to learn karate, build confidence, and enjoy physical activity.
Justin said: "Seeing how much the members have developed over the last five years has been fantastic.
"They have become a very special part of Young Gloves Karate, and it was brilliant to see everyone proudly wearing their new T-shirts."
The event also recognised Matthew Jarrett, who has led the classes each month and supported the group’s success.
Justin said: "Matthew deserves a huge amount of credit.
"He has done a brilliant job running the class month after month and has shown real commitment over the past five years.
"He has helped make the sessions something the members look forward to, and we really appreciate everything he has done."
The sessions are a key part of Young Gloves Karate’s inclusive sport offering, helping members develop karate skills while building confidence, friendships, and a sense of achievement.
The anniversary event was not only a celebration of the progress made so far but also a chance to look forward to more years of karate at Leapgate.
