A 'large-scale' pantomime is set to become a fixture at Kidderminster Town Hall after the venue agreed a long-term partnership with a theatre company.

The new pantomime will debut at Kidderminster Town Hall in December 2027 and is the product of a long-term partnership that has been struck between the venue and Ludwig Theatre Arts.

The partnership will see the Town Hall host a 20-performance pantomime season each year, which will welcome families, schools and community groups from across Kidderminster, Worcestershire and the wider Midlands.

According to Kidderminster Town Hall, the annual production will combine professional entertainment with opportunities for local audiences and young people to experience the magic of live theatre in their own town.

Sadie Owen, events manager at Kidderminster Town Hall, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing an annual pantomime to Kidderminster Town Hall.

Building a strong family audience is hugely important to us, and we want to create shows that the venue, the town and our audiences can be genuinely proud of.

“The standard of Ludwig Theatre Arts' productions surpasses all expectations.

They’re ambitious, exciting and truly premium, with all the spectacle and magic audiences expect from a major pantomime.

“We can’t wait to welcome families through our doors and give them an unforgettable experience, year after year.”

Curtis Fudge, business manager at Kidderminster Town Hall, added: “We’re incredibly excited to be working with the team at Ludwig Theatre Arts.

“Bringing a large-scale pantomime to the Town Hall has been a high priority for me since joining the venue.

“Our ambition is to create a production that can compete with the major pantomimes staged across the Midlands, while still feeling accessible and firmly rooted in our local community.

“We’re particularly keen to develop our family audience through a strong mix of premium productions and accessible community shows, giving children, families and schools the opportunity to experience high-quality theatre.

“This partnership is an important part of those plans, and we can’t wait to build a long-standing festive tradition for generations of families.”

Cookley native Jack Ludwig of Ludwig Theatre Arts also expressed his own excitement at bringing the new pantomime to his hometown.

He said: “Bringing pantomime to Kidderminster Town Hall feels incredibly special to me, both professionally and personally.

I grew up in Cookley and performed at Kidderminster Town Hall from a young age, so to now return as a producer to create a new annual pantomime for the town feels like a real full-circle moment.

“I’m passionate about creating pantomime that feels ambitious, exciting and genuinely rooted in its community and that is exactly what we want to build in Kidderminster.”

Further details about the pantomime, including the first production, performance dates, casting, and ticket information, are set to be announced in due course.
