A prolific shoplifter from Kidderminster has been sentenced following a series of theft offences and an assault in the town.

Louise Davies, aged 38, of Drake Crescent, Kidderminster, appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Friday (September 11), where she was sentenced to 36 weeks.

The court heard how Davies carried out a number of thefts from retail premises across Kidderminster, including Nisa Supermarket on Canterbury Road on August 1, Spar Stores on Marlpool Lane on August 8, and Tesco Express on Comberton Hill on August 24.

She was also convicted in connection with an assault that took place at Poundland on Coventry Street on August 20.

The sentence follows continued work by officers to identify, arrest and bring Davies before the courts for offences which had a significant impact on local businesses and retail staff.

PC Jack Roberts of Kidderminster Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "Retail crime can have a significant impact on businesses, employees and the wider community. Davies was a prolific offender who repeatedly targeted local stores and whose behaviour caused concern for retailers across Kidderminster.

"This sentence demonstrates that we will continue to work with businesses and our partners to identify repeat offenders, bring them before the courts and pursue the most appropriate outcomes.

“We hope this result provides reassurance to retailers that reports of shop theft and associated offences are taken seriously and that action will be taken against those responsible."
