A street food vendor has encouraged the community to support local after being forced to downsize its pop-up due to a "lack of support".

Calàbbria was due to host a three-day pop-up in Kidderminster from Thursday to Saturday this week, but the team have now made the decision to scale back the pop-up to just Friday (September 25).

The business, which specialises in authentic Neapolitan pizzas and has been a success since launching in 2020, has urged the community to come out and support the team.

Director of Calàbbria Callum Maisey said: "Unfortunately, due to a lack of support for Thursday and Saturday, we’ve had to downsize our three-day event to just Friday.

"We're a small local business, and putting on an event like this takes a huge amount of preparation, time, money and hard work.

"So rather than let the food go to waste, we’re bringing it all together for one final day."

There will be 50 authentic pizzas available and there is no need to pre-order or book.

The pop-up will run from 4pm to 9pm on Friday (September 25) on Rosemary Road in Kidderminster, but once the 50 pizzas have gone, there will be no more available.

The pop-up is just for Calàbbria and no other vendors are required on the day.

Mr Maisey said: "If you’ve ever said 'we need more local food businesses' or 'we should support local' - this is your chance.

"We’d genuinely love to see Kidderminster come out and support us."

The director emphasised the importance of supporting local businesses and said the business wants to offer something different to other fast food.

The business also supports other small businesses by sourcing their ingredients locally.

He said: "We want to give Kidderminster something different other than fast food or big chain food.

"We're a local company who specialises in authentic Neapolitan pizza. Our ingredients are sourced locally helping other small businesses."

He added: "We are very excited to be working in Kidderminster as a way to say thank you for their support and to give back to the community."
