A resident in Stourport says he has been fighting for two years to get Worcestershire County Council to cut overgrown trees and shrubs that are 'blocking' light from his home.

Gerald Griffiths lives on St Michael's Close in Stourport and says that for the last two years he has been asking for the overgrown trees and shrubs, which are on council-owned land, to be cut.

According to Gerald, the overgrowth has led to light being 'blocked' from his property.

Gerald also says that despite his pleas to the council to cut the trees and shrubs, they 'haven't been bothered' to sort the issue.

He said: “I have been in touch with Worcestershire County Council for the last two years regarding this problem.”

In response to Gerald's concerns about the overgrown trees and shrubs, Worcestershire County Council has confirmed that the site will be inspected and any necessary works will be 'considered' in line with the council's tree management responsibilities.

The council also said that it does not usually carry out pruning 'solely to improve light levels to neighbouring properties'.

A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: “Worcestershire County Council is aware of concerns regarding a tree at St Michael's Close, Stourport.

“The site will be inspected, and any necessary works will be considered in line with the Council's tree management responsibilities.

“The Council does not normally undertake pruning solely to improve light levels to neighbouring properties.”
