Franche Community Primary School is celebrating beating sixteen other local Primary schools to come first in the Athletics Championship held at Stourport Athletics Club on Friday 6th June. The event was arranged by the Wyre Forest School Sports Programme.
The team was chosen from Year 6 pupils with trials in running, hurdles, javelin, shot putt, discus, long and high jumps being held during recent PE Lessons.
Jan Smith, PE Co-ordinator at Franche Community Primary School, said: "All the team members competed with great determination and supported one another throughout the competition.”
Three pupils broke championship records - Danny Leigh in the boys' 80m sprint, Megan Garbett in the girls' discus, and Luke Maxwell, twice, in the boys' 800m and the boys' javelin.
Mrs Val Weddell-Hall, Headteacher at Franche Community Primary School, said: “They are simply the best! The children have been practising for this event and we are delighted for them that they did so well.”
