TWO non-executive directors have been reappointed to serve further four-year terms on the board of Worcestershire Primary Care Trust.

Carol Thompson and Peter Pinfield’s new terms in post will start on November 1 and run until October 31, 2012.

Mr Pinfield lives in Droitwich and is a senior member of the social services department of Dudley Metropolitan Council. He has, for many years, been a non-executive director of the Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership Trust and has been a Labour county councillor for 30 years, including periods as Leader of the Labour group and chairman of social services.

Mrs Thompson lives in Malvern and was a non-executive director of South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust.

She is a non-executive director of Heart of England Housing and Care and was previously on the board of Heart of England Building Society and subsequently chief executive of Heart of England Regional Tourist Board.

Dr Bryan Smith, chairman of Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, said: “Peter and Carol have been an integral part of the board since the PCT formed in October, 2006 and I am delighted that they have been reappointed.

“Our five non-executive directors are an extremely strong, well-balanced and experienced team, who will continue to address the challenges which face us.”

Remuneration for the non-executive director appointments is £7,765 a year.

Worcestershire Primary Care Trust commissions and provides health services for the 553,000 residents of Worcestershire.

It has a budget of £700 million and manages healthcare services, including five community hospitals, 67 GP practices, 95 pharmacies, 64 dental practices and 174 optometrists across the county.
