THREE Wyre Forest pubs are each aiming to raise £1,500 over three days in support of a children’s charity.

All of the pubs are hosting a range of fund-raising activities on Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4.

Staff of the pubs will also be raising money themselves by taking part in a football competition on Sunday, October 5.

The participating pubs are Ye Olde Crown Inn in Bridge Street, Stourport, The Penny Black, Bull Ring, Kidderminster and George Hotel, Load Street, Bewdley.

The fund-raising weekend is part of a £1 million challenge taking place in all Wetherspoon pubs across the UK.

The company’s pub staff and customers are aiming to raise the seven-figure sum for CLIC Sargent, a charity which supports children and young people with cancer.

Ye Olde Crown Inn manager, Jayne Bick, said: “The fund-raising events will give our customers the opportunity to have fun and support a wonderful charity at the same time.”

BBC Radio One presenter, Mark Chapman, a CLIC Sargent patron, said: “I would like to wish all the pubs the best of luck with their fund-raising and urge people to support them.

“All of the money raised at the pubs will go towards funding CLIC Sargent’s fantastic work in supporting children and young people with cancer.”
