THE life of a community support officer who was killed in a road accident will be remembered through a bench dedicated to his memory.

The bench, on Severnside South, was purchased with funds donated in CSO James Price’s memory.

He died in a road traffic collision while on his way to work at Bewdley Police Station on January 12. The Kidderminster father of two would have celebrated his 28th birthday on Tuesday.

A short dedication service will be held in Bewdley on Friday to dedicate the bench in his memory.

It will be performed on Severside South by Rev Keith James of St Anne’s Church and Rev Pam Garrud of Bewdley Methodist Church at 10am.

CSO Price’s mother Lyn said: “The bench is at a lovely spot, looking straight across the River Severn towards Beales Corner, around which James would have walked many times while on his way to and from the police station.

“The bench is a facility for the town and it is really nice to see people using it.”

Sergeant Chris Aimes of Bewdley Police said: “James is remembered not only by family, friends and colleagues, but by many people who he met through his work as a CSO.

“The bench is in a very peaceful spot, where anyone, whether or not they knew James, will enjoy the chance to sit by the river.”

The service will be attended by police officers, councillors and members of James’ family.
