A COLOURFUL multicultural event will be returning to Kidderminster Town Hall next month.

Worcestershire County Council's Community Fairs will be held on October 15 where there will be face painting, storytelling and mendhi hand painting.

The doors open from 10am until 12pm with a women and children's only session. From 1pm until 7pm the event will be open to everyone.

There will also be refreshments available and the chance to pick up a free jute bag.

The events, held across the county last year, attracted more than 600 visitors.

Eddie Clarke, the county council's director of adult and community services, said: "Community fairs are an important part of informing minority groups about the services that the county council and their partners can offer as we know such groups are under-represented in many of our services.

“The community fairs provide the perfect opportunity for residents to let us know what we can do to make our services more accessible and relevant to their needs."

Polish, Bengali and Urdu interpreters will be on hand for anyone needing assistance.

Residents will also have the opportunity to talk to their local county and district councillors about the issues concerning them in their communities.

Visitors to the fair can find out about and discuss, jobs, community concerns, public transport and childcare.
