PARKING charges are going up in Wyre Forest next month.

The new fees, which include season tickets, will come into effect on Thursday, October 9, Wyre Forest District Council has announced.

Andrew Dickens, head of property and operational services for the district council, said the new charges would still be below those in other areas.

He added: "All of the council's fees and charges, including car parking charges, are reviewed annually in February each year as part of the council's budget process.

“The majority of fees and charges are increased on April 1. However, car parking charges are deferred to allow for them to be advertised in line with the council's consolidation order and for new tariff boards to be made.

“All the council's fees and charges are reviewed in line with inflation increases, with any increase rounded to the nearest 10p. This still maintains our car parking charges below those of our nearest neighbours, such as Worcester City."

In Bromsgrove Street, Kidderminster, parking for up to one hour will go up from 60p to 70p. Up to two hours parking will go from 80p to £1, up to three hours will go up 20p to £1.80 and more than three hours will rise from £3.40 to £3.50.
