BRIDGE repair work that has caused chaos in Kidderminster will be completed over the weekend.

Worcester Road was expected to remain closed to northbound traffic until October 27 but should be flowing in both directions again on Monday.

Repair work to the Severn Valley Railway bridge over Worcester Road had caused the closure, which began on August 15.

Lee Shrimpton, spokesman for Worcestershire County Council, warned, however, that more disruption could lie ahead.

He explained: “Other major works are planned for the likes of Comberton Hill over the coming months, where National Grid are laying a pipe, according to the work programme.

“As a result, it was important to us that the Worcester Road work finished as quickly as possible, so this is a result for us and, ultimately, commuters driving through Kidderminster.”
