STOURPORT has a new Mayor.
At a meeting of Stourport Town Council last night councillors unanimously elected John Holden as the town’s new Mayor.
Mr Holden, a Conservative town councillor, Wyre Forest District councillor and Worcestershire County councillor, takes over from Jim Parish.
He said: “Thank you for the confidence bestowed in me by electing me Mayor of Stourport.
“I just hope I can fill the shoes of the previous Mayor and I look forward to representing the town for the next 12 months.”
Mr Holden’s wife, Glenys, has become Mayoress while Independent Community and Health Concern councillor, Dixon Sheppard, was elected Deputy Mayor.
