MUSIC teachers in Kidderminster are celebrating after a budding guitar hero won a place on a top London course.

Lewis MacGregor,19, of Kidderminster, will study for a contemporary guitar degree at the Guitar X school in London He was taught at Muzos Rock Academy, which specialises in professional one-to-one guitar, bass and drum tuition.

Mr MacGregor is one of 13 people to gain a place on the course, having done an advanced guitar and music theory course at Muzos, set up by Mike Smith and Kerry White.

The pair have run Muzos for 10 years, since opening a music shop in Kidderminster’s George Street, which they have now closed to concentrate on teaching.

Mr Smith said: “We’re really pleased. Lewis worked really hard - you can’t get on that course unless you focus and only the cream of the country get through.”

Mr MacGregor passed an audition and a theory test to win his place on the course, following in the footsteps of fellow pupil Jay Collins, of Kidderminster, who joined Guitar X last September.

“Lewis never thought he would get in but we told him to be positive,” Mr Smith explained. “He really pulled out all the stops and we’re chuffed with his achievement.”
