MORE than 600 walkers turned out for Kidderminster Scouts and Guides 40th annual 'plod' aiming to add to the £200,000 raised by the event so far.
The ‘plod’ was kicked off on Saturday by Wyre Forest MP, Dr Richard Taylor, and Brian Wood and each registered walker received a cloth badge and a mug commemorating the 40 year milestone.
Many tackled the five mile course around the Rhydd Covert and Rifle Range in fancy dress with princesses, knights, a witch and even a Scout in her pyjamas on show.
Joan Nutland, Kidderminster Scout Fellowship member, said: “It was very successful. Everybody had a good time and the dressing up this year made a real impact. It was brilliant.
“The camaraderie between the Scouts was very good. The Explorers in particular made a real effort with the fancy dress. They were great.”
There was also a quiz set by the Guides Trefoil Guild and a balloon race. After the ‘plod’ there was free entry to West Midland Safari Park while many Scouts camped over the weekend.
