A KIDDERMINSTER nursery has scooped a gold award for promoting health in the early years.

The award recognises and celebrates the Kiddies Day Nursery’s achievements in personal safety and child protection, healthy eating, health-related exercise and loss and change.

It also recognises the management’s achievement in staff health, wellbeing, training and professionalism.

Denise Hodgetts, owner of the nursery, said: “Staff worked together to achieve this award and we are very proud of everyone’s contribution and practice to have achieved this fantastic award.

“Completing this award has made our nursery a much happier, healthier place to be for the wellbeing of staff, children and their families. We have come out this with a greater knowledge.

“One of the units covered loss and bereavement, which has been vital to us in supporting many of our families who have tragically been affected by this in the recent months. We were able to support the child and the family during some very difficult times.”

She added that the nursery and its users were feeling the benefits of the award.

“We will be constantly reviewing and updating the knowledge gained,” she said.

“We wish to thank Worcestershire County Council’s early years team for the award.”
