THE Mayors of Kidderminster and Stourport added gentle exercise to their civic duties with a special extend exercise taster at Kidderminster Town Hall.

John Holden, Stourport’s Mayor and Howard Martin, Mayor of Kidderminster, joined enthusiasts for the introductory session.

Elaine Ball, joint organiser, explained that the classes aimed to provide gentle exercise to music for older people and for anyone with mobility difficulties.

She added: “The taster day was a big success. Despite the dreadful weather, we had a good turnout and all enjoyed the experience, with very positive feedback from those attending.

“The Mayors joined in with the exercises and appeared to enjoy themselves. Mr Martin also gave a small speech at the end of the session, talking of the importance of keeping moving as we get older.

“He said that as we are living longer, we need to be mindful that we have to take care of ourselves.”

Classes begin at the Town Hall on Friday, followed by a Monday class next Monday and dates run throughout the year on a weekly basis.

Special classes will also be held at Kidderminster Library on Tuesdays, which will be all-seated exercise.

All classes are at 10.30am. Further details are available at firedupandfifty.co.uk or by calling at the Library or Town Hall.
