The League Against Cruel Sports is one of the many organisations whose campaigns I support. A very disturbing and cruel activity they have highlighted is the "Fighting Dogs" campaign where dogs are trained to fight each other as well as badger baiting. The media has brought this disgusting activity to the public's attention, but more is needed to stamp it out. The actor Tamer Hassan has recorded a short film on YouTube http:/www.youtube.com/watch?v+33Jbv13zQns which gives members of the public who suspect this happening near them a Crimewatch telephone number which they can use anonymously - 01483 524250.
A survey commissioned by The League Against Cruel Sports revealed that 69% of people think a prison sentence is the most appropriate punishment for an offence where a dog is set upon another animal to fight.
