A SPECIAL art exhibition took place at a Kidderminster school as part of the forging of links with a partner school in India.

Barinder Singh, head of art at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Muktsar school in Punjab, visited King Charles I School and created a display of one of his student’s work, alongside examples of his own photographic art.

Eileen Stead, business and enterprise manager, said the event had been a “great success”.

She added: “He certainly had lots of sales and it has raised awareness of our links with India within the school.”

The partnership between the schools is a joint project with The Youth Sports Trust and The British Council - International Inspirations - which has been inspired by the 2012 Olympic Games.

It was initially based around a sporting link but has widened to include the whole school.

A deep learning day involved every department in the school working on activities such as costume, food, arts, business and eco issues.

Further reciprocal visits are being planned for later in the year and students are busy arranging fund-raising events to support the cost of the trips.
