A KIDDERMINSTER woman who terrorised her neighbours for two years by drunken behaviour has been jailed for 52 weeks by a judge at Worcester Crown Court.

Michelle Law banged on the walls of her home, played loud music, screamed abuse and made racial taunts.

She also threatened to slit the throats of neighbours Sally Rowley and Wendy Wood if she was sent to prison, said David Swinnerton, prosecuting and after being arrested on one occasion she kicked out at an officer driving her to the police station.

Her behaviour breached an anti-social behaviour order imposed in May last year and a suspended jail term.

Law, 48, of Laburnam Grove, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty to the breaches and also admitted racially aggravated threatening behaviour.

Mrs Rowley told police she had been under a doctor for stress, suffered sleepless nights and was forced to give up her job.

She said friends and family no longer visited her because of Law's unruly behaviour.

She added: "I feel utterly let down by the whole justice system."

Judge John Cavell said Law had abused her neighbours "in the most disgusting terms".

He said the court had to protect those people "whose lives had been wrecked by your repeated behaviour".

A month after being given the suspended sentence in July last year, Law made threats to kick Mrs Rowley's head in and said she would take both neighbours on in a fight.

Six days later the same victim and her two-year-old daughter were disturbed by banging and 30 minutes of verbal abuse.

Miss Wood came outside her home but was abused about her black partner, said Mr Swinnerton. Law threatened to smash all their windows.

When she moved temporarily to live at her son's home in Ismere Way, Kidderminster, Law shouted abuse at a gay man and threatened to break his neck.

John Rogers, defending, said Law only began offending at the age of 42 after suffering a psychotic breakdown.

She spent six months in hospital but low self-esteem led to heavy drinking and nuisance behaviour.

Her marriage disintegrated as she became "a drunken mess" but the couple were now back together, said Mr Rogers.

He said Law had vowed never to touch alcohol again when she was released.
