PARENTS who drive are being warned to make sure they are ready for new child seatbelt laws coming into force next month.

Worcestershire County Council has issued a reminder that, from Friday, September 1, children under the age of three must always be in a baby or child seat appropriate to their weight.

Three to 11-year-olds who are under 135cms tall must be in a booster seat and children aged 12 or over 135cms tall must be strapped in with an adult seatbelt.

Rear facing baby seats must not be used in front seats, unless the airbag has been deactivated.

Parents can find out more information about the new laws by calling road safety officer, Barbara Wood, on 01527 64252.
