RED diesel has been stolen from a Bewdley golf club during a raid that caused more than £1,000 worth of damage.

It happened at Bewdley Pines Golf Club, Habberley Road, at about 7.30pm on Tuesday (January 4).

The offenders drove up the lane at Habberley Valley, cut through the barbed wire fencing and drove across the golf course, although no permanent damage was caused.

They then cut through palisade fencing with an angle grinder or similar tool, and smashed a storage tank, taking around 600 litres of red diesel. They also smashed another storage tank which was empty.

They caused £100 damage to the fences, £40 damage to padlocks, and £1,000 damage to the tanks. The fuel stolen was worth £330.

Police are looking into links with a similar theft at the golf club overnight between Saturday, December 18 and Sunday, December 19 when an unknown quantity of red diesel was siphoned out of a tank.
