CHILDREN at a Wolverley primary school celebrated the launch of Sainsbury’s Active Kids campaign by showing a representative from the Kidderminster store how they are using PE equipment bought with last year’s vouchers.

Year five and six pupils at Wolverley Sebright Primary School showed PR ambassador Samantha Evans their new equipment in a PE lesson on Monday, February 7. She said: “My visit to the school enlightened me about how successful Active Kids 10 was. To see them using all of the equipment that they were able to purchase was fantastic.”

Wolverley Sebright was one of the schools that collected the most vouchers in 2010. Headteacher, Peter Mountford, said: “The equipment has improved our school as we now have far more resources. There is a high amount of participation from the pupils in after school clubs and the children now enjoy PE much more.

“The equipment has even enabled our school to do better in competitions against larger schools, such as football and tag rugby.”

Store manager of Sainsbury’s in Kidderminster, Kevin Healy said: “Our colleagues are really looking forward to getting behind this year’s Active Kids campaign with Kidderminster customers. We hope this year’s equipment will make a difference to the lives of school children in the Kidderminster area.”

Since Active Kids began in February 2005, more than £100 million worth of Active Kids equipment has been donated to over 40,000 organisations including nurseries, schools, Scout and Guide groups and Sports clubs.

Active Kids vouchers can be collected from Sainsbury’s stores until Tuesday, May 31.
