A MIDLANDS Air Ambulance landed at Stourport Sports Club, next to the athletics track, after the passenger of a moped suffered a leg injury.

The man was picked up by the helicopter at the Kingsway-based sports centre last Thursday following an incident nearby at about 5pm.

Andrew Priest, chairman of Stourport Sports Club and coach of Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club, submitted photos of the air ambulance in action to The Shuttle.

He said: “At first a paramedics car, ambulance and police car came in through our gates. The policeman then jumped out of his car and closed the gates.

“The helicopter then landed and they transferred the injured person from the ambulance to the helicopter.”

A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said that the moped was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

She added that the injured passenger was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
