BUDDING gardeners from St Mary’s CE Primary School in Kidderminster planted 105 trees in Springfield Park.
Members of the school gardening club braved the snow to help Wyre Forest District Council’s arboricultural officer Alvan Kingston and his staff to start a wooded area.
The trees came from Kidderminster and District Lions Club from the Woodland Trust.
The Lions Clubs’ international president Wing-Kun Tam challenged Lions of the world to plant a million trees this year. So far, 6,764,017 have been planted worldwide and Midlands clubs have planted more than two thousand.
Colin Hill, Kidderminster and District Lions Club president said the group was “very pleased to have the help of the children from St Mary’s to help with this very important worldwide project to create biodiversity for insects, small animals and birds and produce oxygen to reduce carbon dioxide.”
