SIX jobs will go when Pure Party in Kidderminster shuts down after its owner Clintons Cards plunged into administration.

Meanwhile, 10 employees at Clintons Cards in Weavers Wharf wait to hear their fate as more store closures are due to be announced tomorrow.

Pure Party, in Worcester Street is part of Clintons' Birthdays chain, which is closing all of its 150 shops.

Another 200 Clintons Cards stores are set to be axed and exact locations, timings and employee numbers are expected tomorrow.

Shutting up shops will start on Monday, May 21, when about 350 of the 784 stores nationwide will go, shedding 2800 staff.

Zolfo Cooper, joint administrator of the struggling greetings card company, is looking to stablise Clintons’ finances in order to sell the chain but said the business was burdened with “an untenable retail estate”.

Peter Saville, joint administrator and partner at Zolfo Cooper said: “Given the sheer size of the Clinton Cards retail estate and the overall performance, we were left with no alternative to this difficult decision. I am hopeful that the action we have taken will allow us to preserve value in the core underlying business, thereby allowing us and potential buyers to focus on a profitable and viable retail estate going forward.”
