NEW Mums can get their pre-baby bodies back with Buggyfit sessions thanks to new funding.

Wyre Forest District Council has received £8,820 from the Goverment as part of its Sportivate initiative.

It is aimed at getting 14 to 25-year-olds moving and one of the activities the money will go towards is Buggyfit, run by yummy mummy Katie Billingham.

It is a power walking class with strengthening and toning exercises to help shift post-natal pounds.

It is hard to believe the now trim size eight put on four stone and went up to a size 18 after her pregnancy and emergency caesarian.

“Obviously pregnancy is a massive cause of weight gain and a general cause of loss of fitness,” said Miss Billingham. “My motivation for starting Buggyfit was that my weight ballooned when I got pregnant with my little boy and it took me ages to shift which affected my confidence. I want to help mums feel good about themselves.”

Dale Evans, the council’s Sport Development Officer said: “We are seeing a large decrease of younger people participating in sport and physical activities aged between 14-25. This Sportivate funding will address this problem by increasing opportunities and making them more affordable and therefore more accessible. We hope to get people more active and inspire them to continue with the activities, leading to a healthier lifestyle.”

Buggyfit will take place at Stourport Riverside on Fridays from 10.45am until 11.45am and at Chestnuts Childrens Centre in Kidderminster on Thursdays 9.30am until 10.30am. For more details call Katie Billingham on 07885293088.

Other sports available include boxercise, zumba, disability golf, rowing, tennis, street dance and a twilight football league with the Kidderminster Harriers. For full details visit wyreforestdc.gov.uk/sportivate or call Dale Evans on 01562 723974.
