BEWDLEY'S Becky Hill made it through to the semi-final of BBC1’s The Voice – despite believing she had “screwed up” her live performance.

“I didn’t ever think I would get this far,” said the excited 18-year-old, who battled her way into the the last eight, singing Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.

It was tense viewing as Becky forgot her words at the beginning of her song and mouthed an expletive on Saturday’s live show.

“I honestly didn’t realise I had done it until Holly [Willoughby, presenter] said,” Becky told The Shuttle.

“I thought I had screwed up the whole performance completely because of that one line. I knew all my lines but I think I just let the pressure get to me.”

But our girl got herself together and her slip up was quickly forgotten as she belted out the rest of the rock anthem.

On Sunday’s results show, Becky was not saved by the public vote but Jessie J chose to take her through to the next round, telling her: “You don’t realise how amazing your voice is.”

Fellow coach, Tom Jones, said: “She always does enough for me. She’s on fire. She takes it to the extreme, so much so, I get a little concerned in the way she sings. I’m frightened she will damage her voice.”

Danny O’Donoghue, frontman of The Script, said he wanted to duet with Becky.“You’re a fantastic performer,” he said.

“You held the audience in the palm of your hand. You’re pretty much there.”

The Bewdley High School and Sixth Form Centre student said it was an emotional experience.“When I got off stage I just burst into tears,” she said.

“I had lots of text messages congratulating me.

“My parents are over the moon. We all said that we wanted to get this far so I am happy now with the fact that I’m in the semi-final. I’m proud of getting this far, whatever happens.”

Whether she wins or not, Becky has been signed up for The Voice tour, which comes to Birmingham’s LG Arena on September 19.

“I will be going on tour and finding out what touring is like with The Voice crew and will, hopefully, get a career for myself that way,” said the ambitious art and music A-level student.

All eight semi-finalists will perform on Saturday’s live show at 6.30pm on BBC1. On Sunday at 7.15pm, half of the competitors will be sent home and there will be performances by Cheryl Cole and Kylie Minogue.
