A KIDDERMINSTER nursery skipped into the summer spirit, raising £600 with a sponsored maypole dance.
A total of 80 children at Hickory Dickory Dock were involved in the event over five days. One to four-year-olds enjoyed a traditional Maypole celebration at the Spennells site, both indoors and outdoors.
Nursery owner, Sara Cookson, said: “This was a great opportunity to support a local charity that is close to our heart. The children really enjoyed the chance to dance around the maypole, raising money as they went.”
All money raised by the children will go to the nursery`s chosen local charity, Home-Start Wyre Forest, which offers emotional and practical support to about 200 local families each year, who are experiencing difficulties.
Home-Start Manager, Belinda Darby said: “We are so grateful to Hickory Dickory Dock in naming us as their local charity of the year and this is a fantastic way for the children to take part in such a colourful and enjoyable event to raise money for our service.
“The £605 raised so far is a fantastic achievement and the money will go towards ensuring our core service to families continues in the coming year.”
