AN athletic club in Stourport are offering a free coaching session to get people involved in their local sports clubs during the Olympics.

Anyone feeling inspired by the athletic events, which begin tomorrow, can attend the session and have a taste of a number of different disciplines.

The Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club will hold the event as part of a national initiative, the Join In Weekend, on Sunday, August 19.

The weekend has been organised by the Join in Trust, a charity helping to encourage people to get involved in sports. It is being held between the Olympics and Paralympic games.

Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club has a range of coaches across all athletic disciplines, including throwing, javelin, discus, jumping, sprinting, hurdling and middle and long distance running.

The club has been catering for residents for nearly 40 years and anyone over the age of nine can train with them.

In 2001, lottery money funded an all-weather eight lane running track with field event facilities with Stourport Sports Club.

The club also participates in a number of track, field and cross country events throughout the year The free session will be held between 10am and 12pm at the Alan Moreton Athletic Track, Kingsway. For more information visit ksac.co.uk
