A KIDDERMINSTER man has been jailed for two years for attempting to burgle a home in the town.

Christopher Bateman, 32, of Warbler Place, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday charged with attempted burglary.

The incident happened at a home in Birmingham Road on Friday, June 29 this year.

Bateman was seen banging on the door and looking through a window by a young woman at the property. He was then seen raising his arm as if to smash the window.

The woman shouted at him and managed to take a photograph of him before he walked away.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Marc Sanders from Kidderminster CID said: “Burglary remains a top priority for West Mercia Police and we are committed to taking burglars off the streets and bringing them to justice.

“Invading someone’s home in this way and stealing their property is an insidious crime which can have long lasting impact on the victims.

“We take such offences extremely seriously and those contemplating breaking into people’s businesses or their homes should be warned we will not hesitate to prosecute offenders.”
