TWO West Midlands students have been awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Fund Scholarship from the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Bhalbinder Banga atends Wolverhampton University and Jonathan Mason is at Birmingham City University.

The scholarships are granted for academic excellence and leadership potential to bright, motivated and ambitious individuals, who show the potential to succeed in the construction industry.

Scholarships are awarded to one student from each CIOB-accredited university/educational institution, who has shown potential in the early part of their studies and are intended to provide study support during their final year.

On successfully completing the work, each student is awarded £500, together with a CIOB certificate.

Richard Sapcote chairman of the CIOB in the West Midlands, said: “We are proud of the close relationship the CIOB has with our educational partners at Wolverhampton University and Birmingham City University and really pleased for these two students and their wonderful achievement.

“The QE2 Scholarship ensures the CIOB is placed firmly in the minds of West Midlands students and the opportunities which the Institute can offer and support the careers of the next generation of construction professionals from the area.”

The students will receive their awards on Tuesday, November 27 at Birmingham City University.
