A REDDITCH-based logistics company has shared a green award with retailer Spar UK.

Oakland International and Spar took the Environmental Contribution Award at the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards in the category of Contribution to Environmental Improvement: Climate Change.

They were presented with the award in a ceremony held at the London Hilton Park Lane.

Vinesh Patel, Spar UK supply chain controller, said: “In the three years since we launched our consolidation scheme, we have been able to deliver exceptional environmental results in areas such as improving freshness and availability of product, as well as a reduction in waste and the amount of vehicles going into depots.”

Dean Attwell, Oakland International managing director, said: “Winning the Contribution to Environmental Improvement award is huge and at such a prestigious event.

“It demonstrates the effectiveness of collaborations of this kind, with Oakland International and Spar UK making a fantastic team. Both companies are committed to continuing to reduce their carbon footprint.”
