A LARGE queue of excited shoppers waited eagerly early on Tuesday morning to get a look at Dunelm’s new look store in Oldbury.

After nine weeks of closure, the Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Ahmadul Haque, cut the ribbon to officially reopen the newly refurbished store.

Free face painting and a balloon artist kept families entertained throughout the morning, while customers also had fun marking the occasion by having their photo taken inside the Instagram photo booth frame – providing the perfect opportunity for those all-important selfies.

The first 50 customers into the store were rewarded for their efforts with an exciting free gift to celebrate the store’s refurb.

Store manager Kayleigh Davenport said: “The opening event was a great success and we really enjoyed welcoming our Oldbury neighbours back into our new look store.

“We have been counting down the days to reopening and everyone in the team worked really hard to get the store ready for the official reopening day.”

To celebrate the newly opened Kiddicare department – which provides items from pregnancy through to the first day of school – a competition was run throughout the day where customers had to guess the price of a variety of products that are sold in store.

Every customer who entered the competition won a goody bag filled with Kiddicare gifts and were also entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a star prize.
