A GROCER'S with a difference is stocking anything and everything Polish', according to its owners.

The store, on Blackwell Street, Kidderminster, came into being after a chat between two friends ended with a decision to go into business together.

Peter Kuczwalski and Ernest Marszalek, both came to Worcestershire from Poland three years ago, to work in a factory in Tenbury Wells.

They were talking to a friend from London about the lack of Polish shops in Kidderminster and decided to start their own, setting up Czar Pg-Eru - pronounced char pegeroo - at Easter.

Mr Kuczwalski, of Dunnington Road, said: "Setting it up was pretty easy but the problem was getting into the building, which went pretty slowly.

"We sell anything and everything Polish and if we haven't got it we can get it."

They source their groceries, including tinned goods, cakes, sweets, beer and vodka and magazines, from wholesalers in Birmingham and London.

Many of the store's customers are Polish or from the Czech Republic but there are a growing number of inquisitive Wyre Forest shoppers buying eastern European. All the stock is also labelled both in English and Polish.

Mr Kuczwalski, who has brought both his wife and daughter to England said his was not the first shop of its type to set up in Kidderminster.

He added: "I wanted to be the first but I think we're the second here, although I don't mind.

"Now we're looking forward to Christmas.

"There'll be decorations in the shop and special foods because it is such an important time for Polish people."
