THE jewel in the crown of the Worcester shire/Herefordshire waste strategy has until now been “energy from waste.”
The claim has been that incinerating an undefined amount of waste will generate an unquantified amount of useable energy.
If you believe the rhetoric, enough energy to service a small town – to infinity and beyond.
Trouble is, at this late stage no customers have been found. Even if they had, no-one knows how to do it. Even if they did, it’s not cost efficient.
So they have decided to put the jewel on the back burner (excuse the pun) and press on regardless with their Hartlebury incinerator plan, in the hope no-one will notice.
Honestly you couldn’t make it up. Who are these people?
Looks like a job for the new police commissioner.
