I have lived and worked in Kidderminster for almost 40 years and have all that time shopped locally to support local traders. Not any more. Why? Firstly, I subscribe to a senior citizens restricted car parking season ticket. To renew it next year, I will have to pay twice the price I paid in 2014. I don’t see how it can be justified and I’m certainly not considering renewing mine.
Secondly, I recently incurred a parking ticket at Crossly Retail park for staying 10 minutes over the permitted two-hour period. We were shopping in Curry’s and obviously spent a considerable amount of time there.
After we had put our purchase in the car, I was not feeling well and so we went into the Range for a drink.
Unfortunately when we got back to the car we had a parking ticket for being 10 minutes over the time limit.
From now on I intend to do my shopping at the Merry Hill shopping centre where I can park free all day. I can take my time to choose my purchases, have a coffee or even a meal and not have to worry about being charged if I leave my car in the car park for a few minutes too long.
