TWICE a day, over the last 20 years, my wife or I have walked our dogs over the Burlish Top Nature Reserve.

Sadly we no longer have the dogs, but we still, slightly less often, walk on the reserve. It is a credit to the people who look after it and gives great pleasure to the many people who use it every day.

There used to be a huge green field adjacent to the reserve, on the Kingsway side. It had access via two custom-made galvanised kissing gates'. This also was very popular with visitors.

Going back seven or eight years, someone obtained planning permission to use it for a landfill site. I seem to remember that one of the conditions of the landfill being granted was that the site would be landscaped, and returned to its previous appearance by a certain date.

This clearly has not happened. The area has the look of a deserted tip.

Does anyone, local resident, councillor or may be a planning official, have any information regarding what is going to happen to this site, and when?
