HAVING recently retired I have had the opportunity to walk around the Wyre Forest countryside and see how this green and pleasant land is being abused by inconsiderate car owners.

It would appear that any empty grassed area is there for cars to be parked upon without consideration to damage or concern for others.

Hoping to find out if there was any action I could take, I contacted the Worcestershire Hub/Wyre Forest customer service centre for help and advice. The initial contact was polite and helpful but the final response was woefully weak.

I was advised that I would have to contact the police so action could be implemented. Now, I am a man who pays my council tax, is mindful of my rights whilst bearing in mind the rights of others and has a respect for the local environment.

The majority of the land is district owned but the council employee was loath to report the action to the police, so, in my opinion, condoning this action and also opting out of designated job responsibility.

In today’s world of advisers, it would appear the role involves advising the public what to do whilst abdicating the responsibly of doing.

As I grow into my Victor Meldrew years, I, too, become bewildered, frustrated and intolerant of complicated business procedures and apathy.
