IN the article ‘Tesco brings wind power to the town’ (Shuttle, October 30), there is a comment that the wind turbine would be an eyesore.

The Tesco store in Kidderminster is hardly an architectural gem so a wind turbine will not detract from the appearance of the building.

However, if Tesco are serious about reducing their carbon footprint then installing a small wind turbine is not the answer.

The store has a large roof area that could be covered with solar panels generating electricity. The electricity produced could be used inside the store and any surplus sold to the national grid.

This would substantially reduce the carbon dioxide emissions produced by the store.

So come on Tesco let’s see you invest some of your profits and corner the market in renewable energy generation.
