I AM writing in response to the recent letter “Missing out on bid for new home”.

I too have had problems with Wyre Forest Community Housing. I am registered on the Home Choice Plus scheme, and my application was submitted on September 2, 2008. My banding was awarded from November 2 2008.

I was originally placed on a Bronze Plus banding. After no success at all, I complained, only to find out I should have been on Gold due to being overcrowded.

I am now on Gold Plus, and I am still waiting for a property and I have bid on several, with no success. I have since found out, that as I am not already a community housing tenant, I get overlooked on the majority of properties that become available, and the house is offered to the next person in line that is a current tenant!

I have been on the system since 2008, and current tenants can join the system now and be allocated a property before me!

My husband and I live in a very small two-bedroom house, along with our three children, all of whom have to share the same room.

This is especially difficult, as my eldest son is nearly 10, my daughter three and my youngest boy is nine months.

I have been diagnosed with post-natal depression, mainly due to the current situation.

The system is not fair, and is failing to allocate properties to the correct people. Properties are being allocated and not being advertised on the Home Choice bidding system. Several properties that would be ideal for me and my family have been allocated without the correct process being followed.

There are people being allocated properties that have been registered on the system less than three months as the information is available in the “recent lets” section of the website.

I complained as I feel I am being discriminated against as I am not a community housing tenant. The response was predictable – ‘the system is fair and this is our policy.’ I was also told of a new development at Areley Kings, Stourport, and told I could wait for these properties as they were going to be available in the next two months.

That was several months ago. I have spoken to the appropriate department, to be told they were being advertised last week, and this week, but no four-bed properties were advertised from the Martley Road development, Areley Kings, as promised.

Nor were there any there any three-beds.

I think the policy needs to be urgently reviewed and corrected.
