I HAVE just been reading Dr Richard Taylor’s comments, suggesting the need to appoint a matron to take overall charge of patient care in hospitals.

I agree that this is a must, to improve patient care and to be a figurehead for staff, patients and relatives to contact when needed.

Eighteen months ago my father died at Worcester Hospital and I have made a complaint about his care and the way my 84-year-old mother and I were treated.

We have tried to get in touch with someone in charge but they always pass the buck. If there was a matron, we would be able to go to her for answers.
