A CARDLESS Christmas campaign has raised nearly £1,500 for Kemp Hospice.

The campaign encouraged people to write a festive message on a poster and donate the money they would have spent on Christmas cards to Kemp Hospice.

St John's Social Club joined about 100 community groups and businesses from across Wyre Forest in the campaign.

Kemp Hospice fundraising administrator Julie Hicks said: “Kemp continues to be overwhelmed with the time and the effort the club give to help Kemp raise vital funds to support the work of the hospice."

To provide services free of charge, Kemp Hospice needs to raise £940,000 annually, the majority of which is made up from voluntary contributions, donations and events.

St John’s Social Club secretary, Martin Williams, said, “St John’s has been giving continuous support to Kemp Hospice for many years now, starting when our vice president, John Lacey, was diagnosed with Motor Neuron diseases and needed to use Kemp Services.

"Since then many of their members have been showing their support for our local hospice."
