The Classical Music Society’s October programme gets under way on Friday 8th October with a presentation entitled “Up from Down Under”. May Crowther will introduce our audience to music from the country of her birth, Australia, along with performances by its leading orchestras and artistes. Whilst some of its composers may already be familiar to us, we can be sure to learn of others of whom we have never heard, along with music suggesting the wide-open spaces and the environment of that great land.

The Society reverts to classical European repertoire on October 22nd when Society member Bob Polfreman presents “Beethoven In Camera” a programme that will look at some of his smaller scale works. We are all familiar with his symphonies but he didn’t stop being a great composer when he wrote for fewer instruments. Bob is a very knowledgeable speaker and he will guide us through some of the best examples.

Both programmes start at 7.30pm at Holy Innocents Community Hall. For more information, contact 01562 755990.
