At the May 7 meeting held at The Ramada Heath Hotel, Habberley Road, members were given an insight into the working of a district councillor by the Mayor of Kidderminster, Marcus Hart, who told the club of his many regular activities such as attending meetings of school governors, trustees, the Scouts and community housing.

Mr Hart is in charge of leisure activities in Wyre Forest and gave a list of items which council tax funds.

The mayor then took questions from members on the topics of schools, pavement repairs, Bewdley Rowing Club and Wyre Forest Community Housing.

Members also asked about the possibility of Rotary signs on the entrance to the town as in other communities and about the handling of the enforced withdrawal of Rotary sponsorship of the Blackstone Road traffic island, leaving it now without a sponsor and in an unkempt state.

The club welcomes new members.
