The Great Balloon Debate’ was enjoyed by all our members, there were some very impressive characters in our balloon: William Shakespeare (Lin Edwards), Victoria Wood: Comedienne (Jacki Clark), Alan Turing: Scientist and Enigma Code Breaker (Kate Reid) and Mary Phelps Jacob: Inventor of the modern Brassier (Pat Gale), each gave an excellent account of themselves as to why they should be saved.

The first person to be voted out of the balloon was William Shakespeare, followed by Alan Turing and Victoria Wood.

Mary Phelps Jacob however was saved for her contribution to the wellbeing of women everywhere, thank you Mary and well done Pat.

The art group gave a superb display of their work contributing artistic culture to the evening’s proceedings; we have some very talented members, thank you ladies.

Congratulations to our skittles team.

Although we did not to get through the semi finals, Pam Sheward received an award for the highest individual total score for this season, well done Pam.

Areley Kings members were invited to an evening with Rock WI, a most historically enlightening evening.

Max Keen was the speaker; he arrived in full 17th century Parliamentarian Regalia complete with replica Civil War Flag and Sword, most impressive.

The knit and natter group will be meeting as usual at the Library Tuesday morning, all are welcome to join in with the activities.

The competition this week was a Hand Made Toy, first place went to Jacki Clark, second place went to Lin Edwards. The toys will be donated to Acorns Hospice.

Well done Jacki and Lin.

The next meeting will be held June 18, 7.30pm. The speaker will be Rev Mark Turner -‘Rambling Rector’. The competition will be a Dr - Dr or a Vicar joke.
