AN octogenarian artist from Upper Arley will exhibit eighty watercolours in aid of Kemp Hospice.

Retired architect and university tutor, Dr Norman Berisford, 84, has made his Arley studio his work centre for the paintings to be hung at Kidderminster Library Gallery for three weeks.

Former Wyre Forest MP, Dr Richard Taylor will open the exhibition at 11am on Thursday, April 5. Most pieces will be offered for sale at prices ranging from £30 to £60.

Dr Berisford said: “I have strong family reasons for wanting to support Kemp Hospice, not least because of the love, compassion and care that seemed to be given so easily when I had an elderly relative there. The standard of attention was eye-wateringly dedicated, and I decided three years ago to do what I could.”

The watercolours are in a variety of styles and subject, principally of a topographical nature together, with interiors, still lifes, architectural studies, portraits and flowers.

Dr Berisford’s wife, Margaret, is already a regular supporter of the hospice, providing, with Marie Morris and Gerald Bridgeford, concert piano accompaniment to fundraising coffee mornings held in Kidderminster Library each Thursday morning.
