ASTLEY WI: Following the presentation of birthday posies, and the usual thanks to ladies who provided flowers, raffle prizes and to those who did refreshments, there was news of the WI county events coming up over the next few months.
Astley lost their skittles match against Brockleton WI and there is the game against Areley Kings still to play.
The Shrinkin’ Violets entertained members and their guests with some humorous festive poetry, singing, music and jokes. The evening was rounded off with the audience joining in with some communal singing of well-known Christmas songs followed by a finger buffet and a glass of wine.
The next meeting will be on January 4 at 7.30pm at Astley Village Hall when Michael Hardwick will be giving the talk: Spetchley – The Berkeley Family and Gardens. New members are always welcome at Astley WI and a warm reception awaits.
