Programme secretary, Shelia Blankstone, and the committee continue to surprise and delight with each new programme they put together.
But just occasionally things go wrong – a speaker may be held up, or may need to cancel. This has happened three times recently.

Members enjoyed a brilliant five star session with Keith Edwards’ ‘Underground Delights’. Keith had gallantly, if nervously, come to Shelia’s rescue, when a colleague could not meet the date.
He expertly guided the audience through the labyrinthine world of caving, with all its mystery and danger.
The camaraderie among cavers was much in evidence not only in the slides and video clips but also in Keith’s amusing commentary. If you’ve a mind to see these wonderful rock formations hidden below ground and if this sounds like your idea of fun, contact Dudley Cave and Rescue Team.

Clent WI recently hosted the Hagley Group meeting. Unfortunately this speaker too had to cancel at the last minute so Toni Allison and Shelia leaped into action and a gentleman named Mark Cavendish stepped in.
His talk entitled ‘Rent-a-Rev’ went down a treat with the audience, as did the magic tricks he surprised them with at the end of his talk. The Rev Mark Cavendish is a member of the Magic Circle - a trick he had kept hidden up his sleeve!
In November, Sheila was able to relax as Clent WI members themselves did all the talking. It’s something they do well.

For the Christmas fayre and social evening, members were invited to bring crafts and home-made items for sale. It was voted a success on both counts.
The group will be having its Christmas party on Thursday, December 13. The festive spread will be cooked up by members.
Paul Harding will be on hand to guide members through ‘A Tudor Christmas’.
