Bob Lawrence, from the West Midland Safari Park, gave an interesting talk and slide show on work done behind the scenes at the park.

As well as the day-to-day running of the park, they are also involved in conservation work all over the world, especially in South Africa in saving animals that are near to extinction. The evening was a great success with everyone enjoying the talk and some fabulous pictures.

It was also the club’s Rose and Sweet Pea Show. Some good specimens were entered.

The winners were: Austin Fletcher; Dot Cowdell; Margaret Dredge. The Best Exhibit prize was awarded to Dot Cowdell. Many thanks to Anne for judging the show.

The next event will be the Clows Top Summer Show on Saturday, August 24. Schedules are available from Clows Top Post Office, Forest Stores and Mawley Oak Garage.

At the next meeting on Wednesday, August 28, Ingrid Millington will give a talk entitled ‘Colour with Bulbs’.

The club meets on the fourth Wednesday in the calendar month at Clows Top Victory Hall. Doors open at 7.45pm, for the speaker at 8pm.

There are refreshments, raffle and a plant stall. Non-members are very welcome to the meetings. However, annual membership is only £5.
